7

Micah Pendleton talks about matte paintings. While the tutorial touches on Blender, that part is only very brief. I did however enjoy the historical overview of the technique.

  1. I used Blender for Matte Painting in several wedding videos. It's fast and you can do a lot of fantastic cgi tricks.
I'm waiting for the semi-automatic motion-tracking which was announced ... one click and you have camera tracking for your scene ... similar to after-effects (but better).

Why do you say Blender can't do Z-Depth? The compositor it's self can't do it, but the viewport can.

It may not have the same amount of power, but it can be more convincing because of movement and paralax. Also, when we get our PBR viewport, it might become even more powerful if used right.

  3. this video is very nice and informative. but seriously, this begging for likes and shares is getting on my nerves.
