How to display a flower with transparency in Sketchfab

0

Mieke Roth explains how to model a flower in Blender and then publish it on Sketchfab.

Recently I added this Paeonia as one of my 3d models on Sketchfab. It got a lot of attention, mainly because botanical models aren’t that abundant and because I managed to make it transparent without any artifacts. Since a lot of you asked how I did that, here’s a small tutorial.

The model itself is rather simple, the only thing that took a lot of work is getting the petals look differently. Here is how I did that.

I have a LONG history with Blender - I wrote some of the earliest Blender tutorials, worked for Not a Number and helped run the crowdfunding campaign that open sourced Blender (the first one on the internet!). I founded BlenderNation in 2006 and have been editing it every single day since then ;-) I also run the Blender Artists forum and I'm Head of Community at Sketchfab.
