It's BB-8, the friendly ball droid from the recent Star Wars trailers! We recently took BB-8 to a skatepark, so he could show off some new skating moves!
For the (very dangerous) stunts, we had to use a CG BB-8, but he's still wearing a helmet, to avoid making blender crash ;)
All the 3D was done in Blender and rendered in Cycles, using CUDA GPU, so the rendertimes were actually pretty nice! (only around 2 minutes per Frame!)
We did initially use Blenders compositor, but it eventually came together in AfterEffects.
I hope you enjoyed our video, feel free to share this with your fellow droids!
And, of course, may the force be with you! :)

Do you know Natron? it's a free software for compositing, developped by a french research team.

Why Natron? Blender has compositing, video editing, ... build in.
