Hopefully, someday, we might see masking by various features (peaks, valley, AO, etc.)! Layers! Mesh management ("subtools")! Kit-bashing ability! Global deformation features like Inflate and Smooth Edges! Dynamic remeshing!
I hope whatever next project Blender eventually does, it focuses more on better completing the existing modes, like Sculpt Mode and Texture Paint Mode. There's no reason why Blender can't be a sort of free alternative to ZBrush!
