Dmitry Ryabov has posted a collection of 14 stunning low-poly creatures.
Once I came across a portfolio of Thimothy J. Reynolds and after seeing his work wanted to do something similar.
I chose the charismatic animal and took a few photos of the sample.
Then I created a "middle poly" model which reflects the main features of the animals, making simple rig for then and giving an interesting pose to make them look more alive and natural.
Then I played with the settings of Decimate modifier, light and camera.
And of course the color correction. I used nodes and Gimp.
