Kenan writes:

In this Blender tutorial, learn how to create a human torch effect by compositing animated fire with live action footage, using masking tools in blender.

  1. While looking at it i wondered, the hands and face are in a similar color range. They are lighter.
The fire has to be before the face and behind hand, could blender make use of a greenscreen area (not the whole but just an area), if possible first movie layer, then fire layer, next overlay fire with a small (greenscreen type, that would overdraw an area if color matches hand. (as a small area the face would not be included)... so instaed of masking on shape, mask a small area on color range ?
