Curious about the chances in the just released Blender 2.73a? Thomas Beck guides us through them.

Hi guys,

did you ever wonder which features are going to show up in the newest blender release? In this series I'll present at least twice a month new and (hopefully) useful features for all of you outside the Blender 3D development universe. This episode is the last in a row of 3 consecutive episodes about the just released Blender version 2.73(a).

In this episode:

3D View:

  • World Background now realtime and settable via nodes 0:38

Texture Painting:

  • Add Simple UV : Simple Cube unwrap followed by a pack operation 3:01
  • Radial operators (F, Shift F, Ctrl F, Shift D) can now be altered by typing numbers 5:20
  • Grab & Snake Hook Brushes support strength parameter 6:14

Sequencer:

  • Backdrops 7:19
  • Waveform display all at once or off 9:00
  • Slip tool (S) 10:34
  • Strip snapping (start and endpoints) by holding Ctrl when initiated with G 11:08

  1. Thank you Thomas for yet another calm, concise and informative sneak peak. The background in 3D view option will be very useful, and the SVG exporter opens up a whole new type of animated output from Blender.
