Ton Roosendaal shares the notes of the developers meeting in irc.freenode.net, #blendercoders.

Ton Roosendaal writes:

Hi all,

Here are the notes from today's 15h UTC meeting in irc.freenode.net #blendercoders.

1) Release targets for upcoming 2.74

  • People noted that the proposed planning for next release was more than 2 months.
  • We might need to reserve enough time for Multiview, Viewport, and several Gooseberry projects to be migrated. But if that's needed has to be figured out still.
  • Everyone gets one more week to get their projects shortlisted as 2.74 targets!

2) Release 2.73a

  • Meeting decided to go for an 'a' update after all. Minor but important fixes were done already. For example: Knife bugs, Cycles has bug (black meshes on certain circumstances).
  • Monday Sergey Sharybin and Campbell Barton will review and move over the essential fixes (and mail to this list to verify). If all goes fine, we then ask for a build on tuesday.

3) other projects

Thanks,

-Ton-

I have a LONG history with Blender - I wrote some of the earliest Blender tutorials, worked for Not a Number and helped run the crowdfunding campaign that open sourced Blender (the first one on the internet!). I founded BlenderNation in 2006 and have been editing it every single day since then ;-) I also run the Blender Artists forum and I'm Head of Community at Sketchfab.

  1. Ha figures just got the newest build today, the goose branch. Every time I think it can't get much better something new comes in and I'm surprised again.did get a crash on the new hair settings, but I'm pretty sure that was operator error, gonna check out the asset management bit tommorow maybe I can actually get things organized , Like always thanks to all involved in making blender.

  2. Ok just throwin a question out there cause I know I'm probably missing something. The new feature , viewport specularity in cycles. I saw the sneak peak by T , Beck and it's pretty simple , add a material and u can adjust the spec settings for the veiwport in the material window right under the transparency and object color settings. But the sliders ain't there. SOOOOOO. WHAT AM I MISSING.
