I have a LONG history with Blender - I wrote some of the earliest Blender tutorials, worked for Not a Number and helped run the crowdfunding campaign that open sourced Blender (the first one on the internet!). I founded BlenderNation in 2006 and have been editing it every single day since then ;-) I also run the Blender Artists forum and I'm Head of Community at Sketchfab.

  1. Even though I watched the film few weeks ago, I'm still amazed, how PJ has fucked up the story and the "magic" of the book. Also the CG in this movie is so f-ing obtrusive, that it looks weak, it looks plastic. Shame on you, PJ. Raping the Hobbit is like raping my childhood. It's like you jizzed on Tolkien's fans, laughing out loud and wiping sweaty tits with money at the same time. PJ, I don't know what guided you, but you should be aware of the fact, that LotR movie is few years old now, and it still looks better than this crap.

  2. The Hobbit movies were not as good as the lotr movies but they are still entertaining. The cg of the movies were incredible, as most Hollywood movies. So as hobbyist/artists in cg, we can take advantage: GATHER INSPIRATION AND TECHNIQUES from movies like the Hobbit. (unfortunately they don't get very technical when doing behind the scenes videos most of the time) Personally, I enjoyed all six of the movies and would still enjoy then without the visuals.
