Ethan Luo is doing an outstanding job making Blender information accessible to the Chinese Blender community.
Been a BFCT for years I'm keep working on producing Chinese tutorials for China Blender fans. Here I hope to share what I have done so far.
It's been around 3 years since I had finished my first Blender book. After that I'm trying to work on video tutorials translation for blender open movie project. The upgrading speed for Blender is really so fast that it is even not possible to catch up with the revise update for my book as it cost more time to public in hard copy. And I have to say the best tutorials for Chinese user would be written in Chinese. So I prepare to provide all tutorials online later in Chinese only.
Meanwhile the network in China is quite different from other places as we have been blocked to access Youtube, Viemo, Facebook, Twitter, Google and Gmail even more (Please don't judge this here). Most of the fresh and brilliant tutorials could not been reached from China that being a huge resource lost and waste for everyone.
So the question is quite clear for Blender user in China: Network block and language gap.
From last year November I have prepared a website call BlenderGET which focus to provide Chinese online tutorials both original and translated. Here are the features from BlenderGET:
- The news related to Blender translated from BlenderNation or other sites.
- The reports from Blender Foundation's website for Blender conference or Siggraph.
- The translated news from Gooseberry project blog.
- The transfer videos from BlenderGuru, BlenderCookie, BlenderDiplom etc Youtube channels uploaded to local video site where can be watched online.
- The translated book or tutorials download host.
- The Q&A page translate from the top answers in BlenderExchange.
- Support the real time push and access via WeChat (The biggest social mobile platform in China with over 438 million MAU/Month Active User)
Now the site is almost finished its first stage of testing and function development. If anyone who interested to join me to help on that it would be really welcome! If you need any translation support from Chinese to English or English to Chinese, please feel free to let me know. I would be glad to support with my effect (like what I have done for Lee's QA post here).
Thanks all developer who contribute for the new IME feature in 2.73 which make the usage for Asia user much easier. I hope also BlenderGET could help people to learn and enjoy blending.
