I have a LONG history with Blender - I wrote some of the earliest Blender tutorials, worked for Not a Number and helped run the crowdfunding campaign that open sourced Blender (the first one on the internet!). I founded BlenderNation in 2006 and have been editing it every single day since then ;-) I also run the Blender Artists forum and I'm Head of Community at Sketchfab.

  1. The focus seems to be 'nothing', meaning the DOF brings the attention to an empty area. Perhaps a tweak in the DOF would really bring this to the next level as it's already an excellent photo..i mean, CGI! It really is a beautiful render. Thanks for sharing!

  2. I have to agree with 8-bit, the main focus of the scene isn't clear. If you were following the rule of thirds, then it appears that the fries might be the main point of interest, but they are mostly out of focus. In fact, the only things in focus are part of the fries, the top of the cup, the corner of the burger box, and the dollar bill.
The modeling and texturing seem fine (the fries are a bit off), but the image immediately draws the eye to the empty space between all of the objects.

  3. Most dramatic lighting and composition I've ever seen on a McD's meal.... almost hilarious. I agree that the DOF is too shallow, just a bit. I like that the dollar bill is the main focus; as @winnertakesteve said, that helps capture the "instant regret". LOL! It would be nice if either the burger or the fries were more in focus, but not both. Just curious, where are you located that a U.S. dollar bill is used as currency and the main language is French?
