Hoist Drum

Community Reporter · December 14, 2014

This seems like a simple model, but Sebastian paid a huge amount of attention to small details that made it realistic.

Sebastian Zapata writes:

Product visualization for a client.

Done in Blender 2.72 and rendered with Cycles.

Sweet. I like the hanger bearing shader, but you need to hire a new painter if you go into production. ;)

Really great work! I would love to see a tutorial on how you got the pillow block bearing housing’s metal so nicely “imperfect”… ☺ I do a lot of aluminum castings and really struggle in getting a realistic “as-cast” finish on those surfaces. If I were to even come close to your excellent results it would take my output to a whole new level!
