This video by Sinestesia Studio visualizes the commits of Blender 2.71 and 2.72.
Ever wondered how much work really went into a Blender release? Now you can see it! This is a visualization of development between 2.71-2.72 created with Gource. I saw World of Gnome do a Gource vis like this a few weeks ago, and I thought it'd be cool to see how it looked for Blender. Gource is a little program that takes a Git repo and creates an animation from all the commits.

Hello there.
Is there a way to get the last image as hi-res? would make a perfect uber-geeky t-shirt :-)

I think so. I don't know if Gource can render resolutions higher than the screen. You can plug the image in the compositor (from the blend file) to get the same colors once you get it.
I want a wallpaper of this, this looks like some kind of blender fractal dna.
This has got be to one of the most beautiful things i have seen in a while, love this
