Jonas (Short Film)

A short film by Gaël Labousse and Clément Ducarteron.

Here is the outcome of this short film I have created with a friend, during our residency at Studio Supamonks. Our first aim was to discover, learn and fully develop this project on Blender and the rendering engine Cycles (except compositing AfterEffect) so as to glimpse a small production on this app. We had a month to design and experiment with different tools, then another one to produce the finalized work.We set up various nodal systems, expressions and scripts using Blender in order to interact sounds, materials and 3D geometry, based on the principles of generative art.

Hoping that you like it.

Art and generative Design as we know them today are the result of many discoveries. So much in terms of technologies (such primitive as they may be), technical advances or philosophical thoughts. They are the results of an amalgam of ideas and tools developed and governed by different historical or more anonymous protagonists. These concepts often arise and emerge from the observation of a benign object, the delight of a superficial moment or the analysis of a group of varied elements. This short film pays tribute to the time T when these people have directly or indirectly caused the contemporary medium.
