Two ways to quickly build a net

Method #1 would improve with a simple subdivision level after the wireframe modifier. (if you need more roundness)
Method #2 would probably be better with a texture, and or, using simple subdivision.
Well, simple subsurf doesn’t smooth it.
But he could have used a catmull-clark subsurf with creases on the borders, which keep it rectangular.
