Blender Podcast: Interview with Jan Morgenstern

2

In this Blender Podcast episode Thomas and Campbell talk to Jan Morgenstern.

In this episode we interviewed Jan Morgenstern, who was recently nominated for a Jerry Goldsmith Award again for his great music on Caminandes. We talked about how he became a musician, his work on the Blender Open Movies, the software he uses for composing also also looked a bit into Creative Commons licenses.

Even though this isn’t our regular topic, we really enjoyed doing this episode, and hope you like it as well!

I have a LONG history with Blender - I wrote some of the earliest Blender tutorials, worked for Not a Number and helped run the crowdfunding campaign that open sourced Blender (the first one on the internet!). I founded BlenderNation in 2006 and have been editing it every single day since then ;-) I also run the Blender Artists forum and I'm Head of Community at Sketchfab.

  1. A great topic to cover IMO... not that i'm biased or anything ;) Really though, music is often the most overlooked thing by novice directors. It really sets the tone of the whole film. Thanks for covering a very important topic which helps the end-product immensely.

Wanted to also add Jan is an incredibly gifted composer. We're very fortunate to have him part of the Blender community.
