This feature length movie (90 minutes) by L&C Light and Color will play on Italian national television this Sunday!
Spaghetti Western in the Water.
Red, a little fish, lives in a fish tank where the law of the frontier provides the starting point for a bizarre story: invention, imagination and laughter, as in all spaghetti westerns...all developed by a young team in Italy in Blender 3d.
It will be on air Sunday 18th May at 7.30am on RAI2!

It seems that national italian tv doesn't care about the quality of their products...
oh wait, it's on air at 7:30 of the morning of Sunday.
have you already seen the movie? or just bla bla bla...
I've seen enough.
Do you know what quality means? or just bla bla bla...
i'm studying blender as a freelance and i'm happy to know that is possible to realize a big production like this one in italy with an open source software...
bla bla bla mr Quality
Ok, good for you.
Go back to study and in a few years look at this trailer again please.
PxR - enough, you've made your point.
I've made it directly or with irony, and I found only people who insult me.
If you think that me or my critcal comments are sterile, prejudical, incompetent or unwelcome just ask me not to comment more and you will see me no more. Promise.
I personally think the kids will enjoy it.
Finalmente un progetto in Blender realizzato in italia. Bravi!! me lo vedrò!
Yeah... that looked pretty terrible. Meee, I don't think you'd really need to sit through all 90 minutes to make that assessment. As the Italians might say - 'terribile'
It's a kids show. Try it sometimes, this is rather the regular quality..
No it is not.
There are 2 elements to refute what you say.
1) As much as you said It's a movie and not a serial of short cartoons. It means that it should require more time for production and gain an acceptable quality.
2) I've experience with tons of kids shows. And I can absolutely say that kids shows with short time for production have much better quality.
This is totally unacceptable by a TV art director. Even the sound sometimes is not sync'd with the mouth animation, (and I'm not talking about lipsync).
And it is only one of the issues.
So I feel I'm entitled to think that there is something strange here if a national tv buys or distribute this kind of product. Charity? A mix of bad taste&incompetence? Or just something that nothing has to do with meritocracy?
Actually I don't care. But I have the right to express my opinions and I do.
I couldn't agree more.
And Bart, seriously? Do you expect everyone to just blindly cheer for every Blender-based production, regardless of how bad it is? I've sat through a lot of cheap serialised 3D children's entertainment with my nephews and nieces, but this looks particularly crappy
I didn't say that - I asked him to keep hammering in the same response, don't twist my words please.
Lol - really? You didn't seem to mind that Meee kept 'hammering' the same mindless 'bla bla bla' response...
I'm Italian and I can't say I like what I'm watching..
I'ts a very low budget (I hope) kids show so the animations, scenes and models poor quality could be understandable but lights setup is completely wrong and color schemes were not carefully chosen ( http://www.blenderguru.com/videos/understanding-colors/ ).
IMHO this show could have been better without too much effort.
Despite that I'm always happy to see that a Blender project goes commercial so..good luck to L&C for their work.
hello guys, here is the group that has created this TV film. We agree with all the constructive critics that can arise from a civil and polite comparison.
We believe that with an atmosphere of exchange of ideas and advices you can grow in the open source spirit that made us unite for our work. By the way we think that Blendernation is a site where is possible to collect news about all aspects of software development and of all blender community.
As a creative team we aim to grow, as we had done with the open source blender and all the other free softwares.
the dreadfulness you invoked is perhaps not the "awfulness moichelangiolesca" that you aliens us so much envied us Italians?? (joke)
Greetings from the team L& C
Well the worst part of everything is that materials are really bad. No specular maps are in place. Everything is so shiny. And also the fact that animations are unpolished
I have to agree with the fact that are not so beauty as some renders or movies that we already seen. But i think its the first blender long meter movie, i am right?
So congratulations for the effort and keep pushing on another movies!
Ok - it might have issues.... but it's their first feature length cartoon, they've got a team there that can do all the right things for creating movie length productions... and there's obviously a market. From that point, their next production will be better.
Just because they haven't spent days rendering each frame to a 'Hollywood' standard is no reason to knock what they've done - Blender and other open-source -->> saleable feature length movie!
I - for one - am impressed and I'd like to see more from these guys as they go on.....
