'Repto108' An Epic Animated Short Film - Project Pitch & Crowdfunding

5

The AgenZasBrothers have launched the crowdfunding campaign of their Repto108 film project. They're looking to raise €250,000 which, given the recent result of the Gooseberry campaign is bold, to say the least.

Zacharias Reinhardt writes:

'Repto108' crowdfunding campaign starts TODAY!!

You want to support the making of an exciting, thrilling and epic animated 3D film and at the same time spread the popularity of the 3D software “Blender”?

You can do so very easily by supporting the 'Repto108' fundraising campaign!

You never heard of “Repto108” before?

'Repto108' is a 3D animation movie project that was launched by the German film and media production company “AgenZasBrothers” in April 2014.

The story of the 3D film takes place in a post-apocalyptic world that has seen a great war between humans and reptos.

Learn more about the project on the project's website, or in the pitch video:

Having been greatly inspired by the wonderful open movie projects of the Blender Foundation, we wish to create something similar with 'Repto108'. It is a kind of open movie project, since we will mainly use the successful open source 3D software “Blender”. But we will not exclusively use open source software to create a maximum space for creativity.

Artists from all around the world are invited to join the 'Repto108' team and work with us on this large scale project. Check out the fundraising campaign video for all of the information on how to support the project financially and bring 'Repto108' to life:

We appreciate any support!

Thanks a lot!

  1. I think I'll follow this, and maybe support if I see something that catches my attention.
Honestly I am a bit held back by the fact that I have the impression that they use the "opensource" word more as a promotional item, and it's something that I don't like.
"A kind of opensource project" means nothing to me. The % of use of opensource software is totally irrelevant if not 100%, and the opensource word becomes only something useful to catch attention.

Anyway as I told, I will support them even with a pocket sponsor only if I'll see something interesting.
    But at 1 condition:
I want you put some more work on the facial rig and animation of Vincent. :-)
    For now Good Luck.

    • Hey PxR,

thanks for your feedback. We said "A kind of open movie project" we dont use the word "opensource". It means for this project, that we try to make as much of the production public as possible, in videos or blogposts. So it should be "open" and not "opensource". We love blender, so we will use it in this project but we want to use other sofware too, So we dont limit our creativity on the software we use. Every teammember who like to work with opensource is totally welcome just as people who use commercial software. The point is, that in this way we appeal to more people.

      Thanks!

      Greetings,
      Zacharias

P.S. We will definitely improve Vincent's facial rig! ;)

  2. It really bugs me how "epic" tends to be trusted more and more as an apparently self-sustaining endorsement tag, and not just a silly buzzword; I remember how they dropped it like eight hundred times in the Wildstar trailer.

I'd really like to see some kind of unique idea, or at least a solid sellable high-concept in CF pitches every now and then; with the dozens of funded, but ultimately failed projects popping up left and right lately, I hope people will begin developing some awareness about the ways in which this business model can and should be realistically used.

    • Hey oslaf,

thanks for your feedback. We love sci fi and epic films and we use this word, because we want to make such a movie. We will give our best to bring this project to life. Its a heartthing. For now just the time can show, what will arise.

      Thanks!

      Greetings,
      Zacharias
