I have a LONG history with Blender - I wrote some of the earliest Blender tutorials, worked for Not a Number and helped run the crowdfunding campaign that open sourced Blender (the first one on the internet!). I founded BlenderNation in 2006 and have been editing it every single day since then ;-) I also run the Blender Artists forum and I'm Head of Community at Sketchfab.

  1. What's surprising is how non-impressed I am by the physics-based-lighting stuff. Cycles has spoiled me. OpenSubDiv is cool, though.

    • Overall, I weren't impressed either, sure that it was high-res was nice, but then again with a NVIDIA K6000 it's not a problem.
Sure wish they'd add OpenSubDiv in Blender, now that they've changed the licenses as well so anyone can use it.

  2. Yeah, OpenSubDiv needs to come into Blender, being as Gooseberry is a development project, that may very well come to be.
