Andrew Price talks to Mathieu Auvray about the Gooseberry project. It's LONG - close to 2.5 hours. I haven't been able to listen to it entirely yet, but I hope you'll enjoy it!
Oh, and you can skip the first 11:22. (Tip for Andrew: get to the point! ;-)
Andrew writes:
Project Gooseberry could be the next big thing for Blender. It’ll prove that Blender is ready to take on large scale movie productions, as well as boost Blender’s development but a LOT.
Now meet the man in charge of directing this feature length film: Mathieu Auvray. He’s a french filmmaker responsible for the Babioles shorts as well as this intro animation (that got my attention 5 years ago).
In this podcast you’ll discover:
- How Mathieu was chosen
- The basic plot for the Gooseberry movie
- What will happen if the donation drive doesn’t reach it’s goal
- Some of the development goals for Blender
- Advice for any aspiring filmmakers

You don't like the opening monologue?
No, not really.
Hmm. I guess I really am different. I don't like cold opens on really long talks, and as long as the duration of the monologue is the same as or does not exceed the typical Tonight Show ratio of monologue time over entire broadcast time, I find a warm open is very useful. YMMV.
Sure, that's a personal preference. It may also have to do with me not having two and a half hours to listen to this, so I'd like to hear something useful sooner :)
For those who skipped the beginning: the cat wins BIG!!! :D
I don't mind hearing Andrew's stories and rants, some of it can be
interesting/engaging.. but with a very long commute to work I have
nothing but time... good interview as well, Mathieu seems very smart and
motivated and hope he does a great job with GB.
How about making Gooseberry a 3D (stereoscopic) movie ? This will give Blender the chance to catch up its missing stereoscopic features :) Say YES, please :)
