I have a LONG history with Blender - I wrote some of the earliest Blender tutorials, worked for Not a Number and helped run the crowdfunding campaign that open sourced Blender (the first one on the internet!). I founded BlenderNation in 2006 and have been editing it every single day since then ;-) I also run the Blender Artists forum and I'm Head of Community at Sketchfab.

  1. Bug report

    Title "The brand new addon "Peeping Ton" crashes no 2.70

    **System Information**
    Ubuntu 13.04, nvidia m425

    **Blender Version**

    Broken: (example: 2.70.7 19e627c)

    **Short description of error**
    __init__.py", line 185, in draw_callback_px
    if self.__class__._pointer != context.area.as_pointer():
    File "blender-2.70-linux-glibc211-x86_64/2.70/scripts/modules/bpy_types.py", line 580, in __getattribute__
    properties = StructRNA.path_resolve(self, "properties")
    ReferenceError: StructRNA of type VIEW3D_OT_peeping_ton has been removed

    **Exact steps for others to reproduce the error**
    Open blender, install addon from the zip file, activate the addon with the spacebar and typing ton (if not already), right click o ton image, the message error will appear and Ton will crash..(I mean, leave), sometimes you need to right click 3 or 4 times to crash, try in different places of the image.

    • I'm not sure about the exact cause, but I believe the actual error is the removal of a timer, but the timer object being None. Removing it conditionally (if is not None) should fix it (open the .py file, line 235 where it removes the timer, add a check "if self.__class__._timer is not None:"). There is still a timer issue however - a new timer is apparantely added whenever you call Ton, although the previous one should had been killed.
