World Blender MeetUp Day – Saturday August 23
Stirling Goetz has taken the awesome initiative to launch the ‘World Blender Meetup Day’ – one day on which meetup groups around the world can get together and celebrate Blender. Even if you’ve never been to one or hosted one yourself, read on and consider participating!

Congratulations to all Blenderheads around the globe for making our Blender MeetUp community something really special. The history of some Blender groups go back several years, but our Blender worldwide community on MeetUp.com celebrates a two year anniversary from March 30th 2014. In honor of that achievement, we propose a World Blender MeetUp Day where local Blender groups coordinate a common day to join together online, socialize and share information (MeetUp.com participation is not required).
The event will be similar to regular local city-based Blender meetings, but with as many groups as possible scheduling their events on the same day: Saturday August 23rd 2014. Research into online webcasting options is underway to enable local MeetUps to present sessions.

In the meantime, some fun facts about our local Blender events:
- Number of days since launch of the worldwide Blender MeetUp.com community: 730 days
- Total number of Blenderheads registered on MeetUp.com: 1050 people
- Number of cities with Blender event announcements on BlenderNation (since February 22, 2006): 84
Toulouse (France) is missing !

The city graph above is limited in that it only shows the top 38 groups by registered users, Toulouse (awesome city BTW) is still in that data.

Why not in Amsterdam area? That’s where the Institute is located and Ton resides.
I’m sure there will be one in the Amsterdam area as well. The point of this World Meetup day is that everyone should start his own meetup! So don’t complain, but start one :)

Not at all! MinnBUG is a key Blender group in the USA and should take part in this event on the day.

I’ve been running the Fairfield County Blender Meetup Group in Stamford Connecticut for a couple of years ,and we are having a meetup on the 23rd with 8 people so far.
