How Accurate is Digital Facial Reconstruction?

3

I have posted several articles about Cicero Moraes' work on facial reconstruction using Blender. Today he does a blind test to compare his results to actual people.

Cicero says:

People always ask me about the accuracy of the facial reconstructions I do.

To answer this question, I decided to write a post aggregating all reconstructions I did and that I had the facial scanning to compare the 3D meshes.

Next to the post I also have made available a scientific article published in a journal of dentistry, describing the whole process and methodology.

I hope you enjoy.

I have a LONG history with Blender - I wrote some of the earliest Blender tutorials, worked for Not a Number and helped run the crowdfunding campaign that open sourced Blender (the first one on the internet!). I founded BlenderNation in 2006 and have been editing it every single day since then ;-) I also run the Blender Artists forum and I'm Head of Community at Sketchfab.
