12 Useful Blender Settings That Aren’t Enabled by Default

“emulate numpad” is a must!
For laptop users heck yes! The one I always check is “Emulate 3 Button Mouse”, I just prefer to use the Alt modifier and always left click for navigation. That’s probably a ghost of my days as a Lightwave artist though.
I use the emulate numpad on pc too. Because the layer switching from keyboard is unusable for me.
I’d also say, turn on Auto Depth and Cursor Depth, those both seem to save me a bit of time and frustration. Can’t believe I didn’t know about Continuous Grab though, even though it doesn’t seem to work as well with a dual monitor setup :/
That seems odd, I use it all the time on my dual setup. It can get a little finiky sometimes (jumping too far) but overall it works pretty much as intended for me even on dual monitors. What OS are you running?
I’m on OSX, although to be fair, I did unplug my extra monitor and still couldn’t get it to work, so I don’t think the second display has anything to do with it.
Actually, figured it out. Doesn’t play nicely with the Wacom tablet. Works fine when I’m using a regular mouse, but the Wacom mouse is no dice. :/
Probably because your tablet isn’t relative. That is, a mouse just says how much it moved, your tablet is set to say where you point.

For those who would consider using a graphic tablet – and no mouse at all – “Continuous grab” option should be disabled as well as “zoom to mouse position” if you use Ctrl+MMB+mouse position.
