Video: Animicry

animicry

Animicry is a short film by five students from Austria. While I'm not convinced by a small spider can transform into larger animals volume-wise, I'm still impressed by their execution!

Christian Elsässer writes:

Animicry is a short film, produced by me and 4 other students within the 5th semester of Mediatechnology and -design at the University of Applied Sciences Hagenberg.

  • Shot with a Nikon D7000, and a GoPro Hero 3 on a quadrocopter.
  • 1 shot was tracked in syntheyes, all the rest in blender
  • all the 3d stuff in blender
  • color grading in DaVinci Resolve
  • editing in After Effects

  1. Fun, the morphing reminds me of the visual effects from Burton's Batman and the slew of commercials that copied it. The animations also look pretty good, the only one that really looked like it needed a bit more work was the cat. It just moved very oddly, and wasn't a smooth animation.
