Francois "CoyHot" Grassard uses Blender to create a 'morph' effect.

Last night, I spend some hours on a strange experiment. I ask myself if it could be possible to use Blender as a morphing tool.Since the wonderfull "Elastic Reality" doesn't exist anymore (thank you Avid), there's no real alternative ... even with commercial applications. Most of open source softwares for morphing are quite old (xmorph, gtkmoprh) and are usually difficult to use with limited GUI.
I decided to recreate the morphing process (warping of two images + crossfade) only using Blender. The result is not perfect in my example, but I think the method is good enough to create a "believable" morphing.
Here is the screencast of my method:

In case anyone's interested in what's possible with this technique. At Gecko in 2011 did this animation for a design agency here in London using Blender http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zGWOh1r7I14
That's amazing!
Looks pretty good - although I had my fingers crossed that you had uncovered some optical flow feature in Blender.
I was expecting the same!!! I have been working in that optical flow thing and I still have nothing!! pretty complex...
Nice! What was the video software you were using at the end?
Thank you for your feedback.
The software I used to play my images sequence is DJV View :

Open Source, and available for Windows, MacOS and Linux ... :)
SquirlzMorph can do the same thing, but you can probably do more dynamic things in Blender.
That's cool! I am semi-new to blender, and I want to say thanks for your book Creer en blender. I live in Tanzania and it is hard to find books on anything, and sometimes you want a real book, although kindle is a life saver. I found it last august in the fnac i was visiting Cergy. anyhow, luckily I know French, and I use this post, faute d'options to say thanks for it, and it has really helped me (although I have some questions) and here is a quick animation I made using it and a blenderguru tutorial. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=07PoJtI-j2I&feature=share&list=UUOXHkHCIsF9VIVZZHYP1zhA
en tout cas je vous remercie! c'est un peu bete, mais ce n'est qu'un debut... je compte faire de mieux en mieux!
