53

Following up on Blender's 20th birthday (please remember to share your personal Blender story, if you haven't done already!), BlenderNation now also celebrates its birthday. It's hard for me to comprehend this, but it's been 8 YEARS since I started BlenderNation (on the infamous vrotvrot.com domain at that time ;-)! Hardly a day has passed where I haven't spent some time collecting your stories and giving you a podium, it's a kind of addiction :)

I'd like to give all of you a BIG THANK YOU, both for creating such wonderful projects as well as coming to BlenderNation every day, reading the news and adding to the discussion.

If you'd ever like to financially support BlenderNation (which would very, very, very much appreciated!), then please consider:

Thanks!

I have a LONG history with Blender - I wrote some of the earliest Blender tutorials, worked for Not a Number and helped run the crowdfunding campaign that open sourced Blender (the first one on the internet!). I founded BlenderNation in 2006 and have been editing it every single day since then ;-) I also run the Blender Artists forum and I'm Head of Community at Sketchfab.

  1. Hi Bart !
Best whishes and kudos for this ninth year of Blender Nation, and many, many thanks for this so valuable source of information !
Keep goin' on and take care. :)

  2. Your contribution to the community is greatly appreciated, Bart! While I wouldn't normally encourage an addiction, I hope BlenderNation is one monkey you don't get off your back (and that monkey's name is Suzanne!).

  3. Congrats Bart and thanks a lot for your continuous effort to provide great news around Blender. Blender nation being my home page it's a great pleasure to visit the site every day. have a great year Bart :-)

  4. Bart, Thanks for all the years of delivering news on Blender and other 3D apps. One thing I like in particular about this site is you give people at different levels of artistic levels a shot at being seen. I think this is a great way to encourage up-and-coming artists as it let's them know they don't have to be masters to be appreciated for their talent that needs to further their skills. I've grown as an artists due to this from constructive feedback I've seen on other people's work here. Thanks for keeping a positive upbeat site for blender users to share and exchange thoughts and here's to many more years!

  5. Congrats on the past 8 years, and good luck in the next 8! Thanks for all your work to bring us the latest and greatest in Blender news!

  6. Happy Birthday!!...I've taken this site for granted as simply being a solid source for 3D schtuff.

Since B~2.45 this has been my on/off/on home-page. I keep coming back to stay in-tune with what's going on.
    Cheers!

  7. Bart, thank you for maintaining this site! In my view, it's one of the best Blender-related resources. You deserve all the respect for it. For sure, I'll be using your referral link to make purchases, it's the least I can do to support this site. :)

  9. BlenderNation has become such a staple reason for me to open my browser, it's rather hard to remember life before it. Congrats on this milestone, Bart!

    • xD That moment you delete your comment by mistake, meaning to edit it instead, but it posts up as "Guest" anyways. YouTube's integration of Google+ comments has got me searching for "Edit" to the right of comments now, instead of the bottom as with Disqus comments. I just clicked the drop-down out of new habit and clicked "Delete" instead of "Edit" before I realized what happened!. Anyways, this comment above is mine.

  10. Thank you for such a great resource, it is the one place I always go to whenever I am online, even is I skip email.
