I have a LONG history with Blender - I wrote some of the earliest Blender tutorials, worked for Not a Number and helped run the crowdfunding campaign that open sourced Blender (the first one on the internet!). I founded BlenderNation in 2006 and have been editing it every single day since then ;-) I also run the Blender Artists forum and I'm Head of Community at Sketchfab.

  1. At 3:30 in the scene breakdown, what does the uppermost row of textured planes contribute to the final scene? Is it used for the reflection glare details?

    Great! Almost perfect!
I think that a street needs some moving trash (like flying papers or autumn leafs). This will add more drama, some tension. Also (not sure) in the last matte scenes (the same street) probably these grey buildings in front are TOO grey. I think it must be color graded closer to colors of sunset. Another thing I've noticed (watching breakdown) - the spaceship in the last part is too "hazy". Probably the overall compositing FX (like glares and ghost lights) are denser than it should be. But not too much.
Don't be offended by my critics. I want your movie to be even better.

  3. I speak from a position of ignorance of this kind of thing, but I do want to learn. I'll bet this trailer is meant to be more of a teaser than a descriptor, and so any obfuscation of the alien objects is meant to put the "tease" in teaser?
(Also, I love the how the music is so radically different between the trailer and the breakdown.)

  4. I like it, very nice teaser. The music is great as well, and because I knew one piece of music I discovered that your credits are wrong: only "Stil2" and "Diabolic2" are by Cyril G. Pereira, "The Ascention", "American Dream" and "Lost in the Dark" are tracks from French composer Guillaume Cochard-Lemoine.
