Blender Tutor uses the mist pass to create a creepy scene.

I’ve created a creepy scene that goes over some useful compositing tips. In this tutorial, we’ll go over compositing the mist pass in cycles with our pal Slenderman to help out. We’ll also go over compositing a volumetric light into our scene. We’ll bring everything together with some color correction and film grain to get a nice creepy image.
I’ve provided a free model of Slenderman that I created for this tutorial, as well as a forest so that you can get straight to the compositing if that’s what you’re interested in!

Alas, the Slenderman!
Then is the mist depth parameter meant to be different in cycles than in blender internal? With the internal renderer, depth refers to the distance of the far plane of the mist pass. In this tutorial, the cycles version is described as depth controlling the smoothness of the banding resolution instead? Then how is the far-plane distance controlled?

Argh! Fixed that.
