In this brief tutorial, Paul explains the basics of editing, and shows you how to set up Blender as a capable NLE (Non Linear Editor). A .blend file with the windows layout and a key configuration file are available for download via the blog post.

Hi,
may I suggest you change the title to "Introduction to video editing in Blender"
Introduction *of* video editing in Blender implies that video editing is being added to blender as a new feature.
Great suggestion, thanks!
Don’t bother treating the existing window layout presets as precious. Just delete them from your project if you don’t need them.
There isn’t a good preset for node editing, for example.
I use the VSE regularly, and it is a fantastic video editing tool. 3PointEdit ("DavidMcSween" on YouTube) has created many great tutorials.
It would be fantastic if those add-ons from 2.49 were able to be used now. Most all those effects can be generated somewhat simply in the Compositor (often with some 3D View input, as well), but having to alternate methods is cumbersome. So if anybody who knows programming has the know-how, I'd definitely be a grateful user.
I need to try this.
Where's the actual tutorial?
