I bet you didn't know about all of these! XRG81 did a great job at compiling this video.

I have a LONG history with Blender - I wrote some of the earliest Blender tutorials, worked for Not a Number and helped run the crowdfunding campaign that open sourced Blender (the first one on the internet!). I founded BlenderNation in 2006 and have been editing it every single day since then ;-) I also run the Blender Artists forum and I'm Head of Community at Sketchfab.

    • That's mentioned at 0:54 of the video - it's called the spin tool. Shortcut is Alt R - also found in the toolshelf (T)

The settings are remembered from the last operation it's likely already been set to 180 degrees in the angle.

You can also do something a little similar by using the awesome loop tools addon with the bridge command (but you'll need to select the 2 edges instead of the 1 as with the spin tool here.)

      Hope that helps.

I thought this was a good collection of general 3d cursor examples too :D

  1. Did I miss something, or is this video almost useless? Yes, it's a video of somebody doing useful stuff in Blender... but with no keyboard shortcut overlays or any commentary to say *how* he's doing all those things, it hasn't taught me anything.

    • Sorry you didn't find it helpful. It's not really intended to be a tutorial; I made it in response to someone wanting examples of what the 3D Cursor is used for a few months ago.

    • Actually, this would be a simple matter if that cursor was seen by Blender as just another object. Maybe even a script that would make one special empty follow the cursor and vice versa would be enough.
