Blender's Video Sequence Editor, or VSE, is a hidden gem for film producers. There's lots of powerful features but there's one basic Video Editing tool missing... a title tool. But that's ok, as Blender comes with an awesome 3D animation system too ;-) In this tutorial David McSween demonstrates just how easily you can generate titles and credit rolls to place over your movie.

Gotta love the vse. Pretty handy stuff.
VSE is a great tool!
It just saved my butt. I had a JPG image sequence that AE and Shake refused to open. VSE did it right away and exported out. Thanks blender! :-)
Nice, but don't forget that once you've made the text in another scene you can use the VSE to move it's position and change it's visibility/opacity over time using an Blend in the Properties of Alpha Over or Cross. You can even use the Graph editor to tweak these effects.
You are right Pamtango, but I had to draw the line somewhere ;) there are of course many great ways to manipulate the strips in the VSE. What I wanted to illustrate in this tutorial, was the integration of 3D assets from another scene. I assume knowledge of VSE basics here. Feel free to check out some of my other VSE tuts that cover those topics. Infact there is a great addon "Transform Addon" that lets you manipulate a strip in the preview window. It's pretty great.
Thanks for mentioning the Addon.
Made a similar tutorial a couple years ago over at Blender Cookie if anyone's interested - http://cgcookie.com/blender/2011/01/04/video-sequence-editor-title-slides-and-callout-video/
I am using Blender 2.72 and when you start changing the settings at about 5:43, none of the properties you see in your version are showing up. How would you update the changes in property to get the desire effect in 2.72?
This is the only tutorial I could find that does exactly what I need to do.
