Piero is a new Blender Cookie course, and the character's rig is now available for download.
Kent Trammell writes:
Piero is a stylized bird character who is the result of an extensive full-production training course. He's been built entirely in Blender, rigged for general-purpose animation including a flexible Spline-IK wing system, with shaders applied and ready to be rendered with Cycles. He can be downloaded for free from Blend Swap and re-used under the CC-BY license.
You can see the rig in action here:
Citizen members can watch the entire process that brought Piero to life from modeling, to texturing, to rigging, to animation, to post production at Blender Cookie.

Lol! :)
A super fantastic tutorial! thanks CGCOOKIE
An excellent rig.. owesome..
but i think the charecter is around 57 MB .. doesn't is consume lots of time for render..
How did you avoid this..???.. any suggestions?
The final frames for the animation took between 8-12 minutes to render on my Mac Pro (early 2008) 2 x 2.8 GHz quad core intel xeon with 12 GB ram. Then again everything requires lots of time when rendering with Cycles ;)
Awesome
