Download: OSL Shaders

QuipdemoA

François Gastaldo presents two OSL shaders that allow you to embed your models in an HDR scene.

François writes:

Those two OSL shaders are a fast and easy solution to put 3D Objects in HDR Environment, without compositing.

QUIP is for Panoramic Camera. Use it with a targeted (tracked to) camera.

QUIPCam is for Moving Camera. It's a kind of Spherical Camera Mapping to have a very fast 3D integration result. It's a first step to more advanced 3D integration or FX.

Just create a ground, plane or grid, and apply this shader to it. Then, create objects to mimic the real scene.

You can dowload the OSLShaders and read the documentation here.

  1. Nice job! I look forward to seeing more resources and work done for OSL. I'm interested in it, but seeing great examples of its usage is still kinda scarce. I've read the OSL reference a bit and I've been meaning to play around with it more, but I'm busy and usually it takes seeing a great example like this one to pique my interest with priority with my free time. I'm hoping more examples of its usage grows much more over this summer.

  2. I've registerd to this forum (that i check everyday since a year) just to tell you François Gastaldo that you did a GREAT job. Especially that my company is doing a virtual tour through non existing city sites and we base every step on 360 panoramas. You made the life of some Polish guys ... a lot easier!

    • "Those shaders are made for educationnal purpose only. Use them in production at your own risk," said François Gastaldo at his documentation page.
