The Ott Planetarium is doing amazing things with Blender (check out our previous posts). Today, they announce a new video on space exploration. It's meant to be projected with their full-dome projectors, hence the distortion.
Ron Proctor writes:
Our work on “First & Farthest” is finally finished! It's a show about humanity's first steps in space exploration and is designed to support a STEM-focused curriculum.
Total production time: 860 hours between AmyJo and myself, which is roughly 35 hours of work per minute of finished video. The total project budget is less than 0.02% of the average Pixar feature film budget (we think it's at least 0.02% as good). :)
Watch it online or see it as it was meant to be seen in your favorite planetarium!

Congratulations ! You've done a great job ! Nice pictures ! Very impressive, even on a small flat screen :-)
Great for history teaching!
Just some things I've noticed:
- Tsiolkovsky was pronounced like "Tsilkovsky" every time
- there were several experiences with dogs made by Russians as I know
Anyway it's a great idea to combine all this together and make a movie!
IMO: It's pity that MIR station was taken down.
