Chocofur: Furniture Models for Blender

cover

Chocofur is a new Blender oriented webshop that offers modern furniture models for sale, all ready to render in Cycles. The individual model packs sell for €24.95 (simple models are €4.90 each), but there is a choice of free models available as well.

Lechu Sokolowski writes:

Hello everyone!

After almost a year of intense work I would like to proudly announce Chocofur.

Chocofur is currently an on-line store with over a hundred paid and free furniture models created for Blender and Cycles rendering engine. Models are divided into 7 categories basing on their material (wood, steel, concrete etc.) but you can also get them separately as well.

One of the main purposes I had working on this project was the will to popularize Blender as an excellent tool for creating professional interior, furniture and architectural visualizations. With Cycles on board, I've been using Blender in my commercial works for almost two years. However, I've noticed one thing slowing me down for the most time and it was not the lack of any tools or special features Blender could have. The thing I really missed were professionally prepared 3d models and shaders I could just "drag and drop" to my scenes in order to save time and effort. That's when I thought about creating some furniture packs for me and perhaps other people too.

Right now Chocofur works only as a furniture models store, but in near future I plan to develop the website and add few tutorials for all the people that would like to improve their architecture/design rendering skills. I also plan to release other models like vegetation, cars etc.

I strongly recommend trying out free models you can find in the store. There are 14 different furnitures available separately or in packs (7 in each). If you can, please spread the word amongst other Blender users. I really look into your support in carrying this project in near future :)

Happy Blending!

  1. I really like this! A resource that caters to Cycles-render production-level assets for professionals is something we don't have, with the exception of the relative few examples freely available at BlendSwap.

Hey, good luck with this! Here's hoping it grows into being a mainstay among many Blender-using visualization professionals!

  2. Great models, the quality of your work looks amazing.

I know it's not Blender related, but since you are offering all models as .obj as well, I suggest that you market your work for VideoCopilots Elements plugin for After Effects. Just an idea.

    Anyways - good luck!

  3. Great work and great initiative Lechu.

You have chosen beautiful furniture designs and the site itself is also very well designed.
Good luck with this project and think about Stokke suggestion.

    • Agreed about the site. It's very beautifully simple. Attractive, elegant, functional. Great work Lechu!

  4. Great models, nice site indeed!
I've liked that "cup-lamp" a lot! Wish it to have in real :) Really cool design!

  5. Why C4d physical render doesn't work like cycles, why do i have to wait to see my renders when Cycles makes me more thinking of composition like a real photographer?

I seriously think of changing C4d to Blender...

Do you plan to do some interior / exterior plants, cosmetic packagings too, and maybe a complete virtual cycles photostudio?

  6. Hey guys, I'm Chocofur author and I would really like to thank you for such a positive feedback !

As for the future plans: my main focus at the moment is creating a standalone website with arch-viz related tutorials and other resources such as shader/environment setups. I also plan sharing all the studio and furniture scene setups you can find in the store.

Models that will appear in the future will not be limited to furniture only. I already have + 10 very nicely modeled classic cars that need some shading works and will be also available for download.

Chocofur has only just started and your positive respond to it motivates me to work even harder :) Thank you again.

By the way, if you have Facebook account you can follow Chocofur there. Right now it's possible for everyone to send the ideas on what furniture models should appear in the store with next model releases. Authors of the ideas we decide to follow will receive final 3d models for free. FB link: http://www.facebook.com/chocofurstore

    Happy blending! :)
