Videotutorial: Texture a SNES in Blender

texture a snes

Now that you know how to model a SNES in Blender, learn how to texture it!

Blender Tutor writes:

In this second half of a 2-part tutorial about how to create a Super Nintendo in blender, we’ll go over how to set up materials, texture, and render a SNES scene. We’ll go over creating the cables by using curves as well. We then light and composite the final image.

As far as the “Instruction Booklet” is concerned, I have included the texture for it in the download materials for this tutorial. All I did was import the image using the “Images as planes” add-on, then I extruded one side to make it into a book shape. I then duplicated the entire shape, and scaled it down on the Z axis, several times, to create inner pages. The last thing I did was create a second “Paper” material, which was just a default white diffuse shader, and applied it to the inner paper pages. That’s it!

I have a LONG history with Blender - I wrote some of the earliest Blender tutorials, worked for Not a Number and helped run the crowdfunding campaign that open sourced Blender (the first one on the internet!). I founded BlenderNation in 2006 and have been editing it every single day since then ;-) I also run the Blender Artists forum and I'm Head of Community at Sketchfab.
