Matray (creator of Babioles) presents the trailer of his latest animation, Steve.

Hi!
I've made a short teaser for a TV show for kids name "Steve". It's the story of a teenager named Steve who woke up one morning as an ornithorhynchus (Duck-billed platypus) made of plastic, but still tries to live a normal life...
As usual we made it entirely with blender and it was the first time we worked with Cycles. And it was great ! The workflow for setting up renders/textures/shaders/lighting is so much more better ! So fast and intuitive !
Anyway it's a really good tool :)
Hope you'll enjoy !

Love it. the look. The style of humor. Everything.
I can only imagine the amount of time you must have spent testing animation renders with cycles though. I'm guessing that using live action everything, except the main character must have helped a lot! Anyway, it looks great! I want more...
Shadows, reflections? how? why isn't there still a reflection and shadow only option.
Cool animation dude.
We used an extra renderlayer without the caracter for reflection. Compositing reflection was sometime a bit tricky because it's not always additive. sometime the CG reflections are darker than the object it's on... And for shadows we used mainly the AO and a bit of the shadows pass and that was ok !
Thanks, I know these techniques :).
But it could be more user friendly implemented :).

subbed in french as
"as if she was american"
:D
Loved it! The animation is great, the subtle movement of the eyes really added life to the character!
Very nice indeed. Good choice on the name too ;)
Very cute! The Steve character was pretty funny.
Waaay too awesome !
Awesome work! Great humor!
Awesome. Side note, this particular video really ties up my internet trying to watch it. Do you think that maybe you could upload it to youtube instead, or maybe give me a direct link? Thanks!
