CG Cookie is giving away their super-flexible Flex Rig!

Beorn writes:

CG Cookie has released its Cookie Flex Rig as creative commons!

Designed for the latest animation tutorial series "The Blender Animation Toolkit", this fully animatable rig can be made into various characters through an extra layer of controls.

The Cookie Flex Rig was created by Nathan Vegdahl, Beorn Leonard, and Jonathan Williamson, based on an initial design by David Revoy. The rig is designed for maximum flexibility, with numerous controls for body shape, facial features and a small library of clothing and hairstyles. It’s intended to provide a great resource for learning and testing character animation in Blender.

Check it out here.

  1. Been playing with it for few days, only problem is the hip to leg part. They fold weirdly when squatting and sitting on ground. Other than that the rig is awesome!!!

  2. The hip and leg rig is pretty standard. If you are having trouble getting good shapes, try rotating the pelvis, tweaking the knee poles and/or adding some ankle roll.

  3. nice setup. this will come in very handy. having trouble keeping up with all the new features, addons , contributions from the community this past year. never seen anything like this before. where people just give stuff away. just have to let'em know where you got it. wow. merry christmas to all. and thanks for blender. :))
