As you all know, Blender plays a major role in all these ;)
CINANIMA is an animation film festival organised by NASCENTE, a non-profit association (a Cooperative Society with Cultural Purposes), since 1976. For its 36th edition (12-18 November 2012), 952 films from 57 countries were submitted. In addition to the competitive sessions, the festival hosts workshops, exhibitions and panorama (non-competitive) sessions featuring authors’ and other countries’ retrospectives, children/youth sessions, etc. The Festival is approved by ASIFA – Association International du Film d’Animation.
This year, CINANIMA will feature a "Libre Animation" panorama session, a 75 minutes session showcasing animation works made with Free/Libre and Open Source Software and/or works released as free cultural works. This panorama is curated by Bassam Kurdali, with the help of Nelson Gonçalves (local contact), and, hopefully, it will be the first of more to come in future editions ;)
For more information, see the festival website.
Hope to see you there!
