Window Generator: New Interface, Window Styles

16

The Blender Window Generator has received a major overhaul.

Lesterbanks writes:

Seyit Ali Yaprakci has updated his Window Generating Script for Blender which now sports a cleaner more intuitive interface and most notably adds the ability to create rounded top windows, and windows that have angled tops as well, allowing you to control the input angle to anything you desire.

I have a LONG history with Blender - I wrote some of the earliest Blender tutorials, worked for Not a Number and helped run the crowdfunding campaign that open sourced Blender (the first one on the internet!). I founded BlenderNation in 2006 and have been editing it every single day since then ;-) I also run the Blender Artists forum and I'm Head of Community at Sketchfab.

  1. Hey man, thank you very much for such an awesome and time saver tool, I´ll try to learn python programming to add some other architecture aimed tools to blender in the future so that I can contribute the same way you and many others do.

  2. Looks very promising, but how would one incorporate this into a wall? I just created a basic window with 41 outside verts. I couldn't imagine having to cut a mesh 41 times and merge everything together for this...

    • I don't think you would need to Merge the window with a wall, you could Boolean the hole in the wall and simply JOIN the meshes into one object. Models don't have to be one solid mesh. Unless you are 3d printing and joining would work there too.

    • just left click on the window script download click save as target. click save, and from your download folder move it to your add-ons contrib folder. activate it and your good to go.:)

  3. PS , this is for 'NINHALO5" your not actually installing a window.cntl_r a couple of edge loops.and delete the faces where the window goes. sorry i couldnt rezist. If i'm not mistaken thats what your saying. if i am sorry. aaaaarrrrggggg !!!! i could do without politicle correctness.Happy Blending :)

  4. great addon. THANKS!

    just one question:
when I deselect (or move) the window object, the menu in the left panel disappear and I can't modify the settings.. is there any solution?

  5. great addon! i tried to use it with blender 2.65a, but the controls of it are greyed out. anyone has an idea why this happens?
