I have a LONG history with Blender - I wrote some of the earliest Blender tutorials, worked for Not a Number and helped run the crowdfunding campaign that open sourced Blender (the first one on the internet!). I founded BlenderNation in 2006 and have been editing it every single day since then ;-) I also run the Blender Artists forum and I'm Head of Community at Sketchfab.

  1. While i'm not an expert, i think the sky is fine. i grow up in a village, on the equator line (Malaysia). On the same token, I really envious those people that can see aurora and starry sky.

damn so much good Works last days Blender users ROCKS really beautiful. Many details to work and some tweak to do and its good. It's like coming from tiger eyes or something like that

  3. These last days the blender's renders are really awsome. Maybe that mean blender is getting in touch with the professional world. lol

I just really can't believe how quickly this has become a meme. "I've seen those boots before, Price invented them." "I've seen that lamp, you got it from Andrew." "Don't go dropping no water-fruitsplashes in your reel without crediting Andy Price and Blender Guru." Yikes.

  4. Looks fine. Lots of detail, which does make me wonder whether it is rendered or image maps.

    Kibitzes:
    - The DOF is a bit extreme.
    - If the chimney was built this way, it would have (probably) already collapsed -- chimneys help with the structure of the house, and also give residual heat to the house, so they are generally built into the house in some way. Being as the soil is probably fairly soft this close to the river (cf., the willow tree), this may be another reason the chimney might fall.
    - There seem to be prairie plants growing not only near but in the water.

    • Hey, thanks for the tips. I think I addressed the DOF in the second picture. As for the chimney, perhaps it could be crumbled, but in all my references they were still standing and some were by water so I think its fine. As for the prairie plants, some of them still snuck into the water despite my telling them over and over not to go there! They are weeds that can be found in this climate though, not from grasslands.

Oh, and it's all rendered, I didn't use any transparent image textures at all, not even for the leaves or grass. They slow down cycles waaay too much, polygons were actually much faster to render.

  5. Nice rendering! I think the sky looks a bit washed out however, at least for my personal taste. REgardless, really nice and I think i prefer the 2nd one you posted below. Nice work!

  6. I prefer the green version (above). More natural. And very realistic ! The brown version seems too forced - too artificial - in my opinion.

    • I agree. I like both images, but I've changed my mind about the color variation and also think that the green looks more natural :D

  7. Very impressive. The only things that seem off to me is the water in the creek (it blends with the grass, making it hard to see, and I think a higher transparency setting would look good), and just the vast amount of green xP That part is just a personal preference, but I think having some more brownish colors would make it seem more real. But overall, this is VERY impressive.
