By David Lindsley.

David writes:

After I did the face capture and hand capture tests in Blender a couple of months ago - I decided to put together a quick little story - which turned into Adam Baum. It's all done with Blender 2.61, including the video editing. I used motion capture for the body, Blender's built-in tracking system to make the face and hand capture, and found some awesome models at BlendSwap and elsewhere. Blender rocks.

I have a LONG history with Blender - I wrote some of the earliest Blender tutorials, worked for Not a Number and helped run the crowdfunding campaign that open sourced Blender (the first one on the internet!). I founded BlenderNation in 2006 and have been editing it every single day since then ;-) I also run the Blender Artists forum and I'm Head of Community at Sketchfab.

Cute.  Good facial expressions, especially by the villain.  Did you use Blender's mo cap and facial tools?

    This is realy gread movie...
I love the Style remind me a lot to the old SF form the 60 or 70... and they are a lot of stuff witch I was pissing me of (27 missing Planets) and the aser space Ship is from Babilon 5, gread...
and the lease efect is brillant

  3. Excellent stuff, really nicely done.
Makes me think of a few Calvin & Hobbes comics (without the Hobbes that is).
Some of the more subtle effects are great.
How much time did it take to put together?

  4. Haha, I don't normally like graphics of this sort but I have to admit that this video is pretty awesome. The story line is just pure fun and the graphics give it an old school style. Like Lowdeller I am also curious how long it took you to put together?

Good script and not a bad animation! :)
Eh, present days' kids usually doesn't satisfy with old paper box games... PSP, Wii, XBox and so on "eats" their fantasies.

I liked this a lot. It does have a very great simple story line. And it reminds me of when I used to do that.

  8. Hahaha! That´s awesome.  I hope you guys realize how HARD it is to actually complete a short, nevermind an ANIMATED short, these things are HARD to do.

    Very well done.

It does resemble something I´ve seen before, the character...the kid....he reminds me of the kids in that christmas-music-video...it was probably made by him as well, there´s somethings you just can´t shake..if you have a style...it follows the artist for life ;)

    Nice work!

  9. why everybody say facial animation is awesome??? Too many hours in front of the monitor..... :S
The animation is poor, the lipsync... what can I say about the lipsync :S....
THe modells are ok, the ernder very poor, I like the script, the model of the box, ship it's great, the rocks are very well made. But that's it guys....
Too many pops in the eyes, mouth, body animation, etc...
I mean... it's ok.. but it's not awesome, and please dont start with shit like "oohh grand master of the animation en blender!!! show us your skills".. please dont....
I'm just saying what I see

The only thing good about it were the characters. They were great.

The lasers were really bad, the space animation was low-quality, and the intro was cheesy.
