I have a LONG history with Blender - I wrote some of the earliest Blender tutorials, worked for Not a Number and helped run the crowdfunding campaign that open sourced Blender (the first one on the internet!). I founded BlenderNation in 2006 and have been editing it every single day since then ;-) I also run the Blender Artists forum and I'm Head of Community at Sketchfab.

  1. Wow. I seriously can not think of anything to say. This is without a doubt the best blender image I have ever seen. Excellent work!

  2. Very cool render! And a very good example from artist working with cycles.
The pose is a little bit ackward IMHO. But if it's fixed, i'll vote this for blender 2.62 splash screen ;D

  3. Once I've noticed the right foot... the whole transformer started to look completly off balance. When I look at it, it feels like the transformer will fall onto its back (a bit on the right flank side).

  4. So, where does Hasselhoff sit when its in robot form?

(K.I.T.T. as a transformer = brilliant! Love the concept! Sell this one to Hollywood as Michael Bay's next big blockbuster! ...but can we get James Earl Jones to do the voice instead of some wimpy british-sounding dude?)

(Also, pic could use a horizon or hills/mountains in the background. Not a deal-killer, but distracting...)

    Great Job! :)

  5. This may seem like a silly question but I have to ask, is there conservation of mass and volume between the transformer and his secondary form? What I mean is, when he's in his car mode, are some of his pieces overlapping under the hood?

    •  Hehe I was thinking about that too. The robot looks like it has twice the volume of the car (without filling up the passenger section completely.) Nevertheless, I don't think he cheated any more than they did in the Transformer movies.:) This is pretty top notch. I LOVE the robot design. The car panels are beautifully integrated and the face is spot on. I'm in awe.

      • Yeah my biggest problem has always been the passenger space. Although I admit I'm a huge fan of the movies so I'm not going to dissect it too much. Although according to ILM, Optimus Prime's primary form did actually fit inside the secondary form. The bottom line is, this is an incredible and inspiring model!

        • Hi and thanks :)
Mexpression I agree with you about the transformers but I thought that if I want a quite big and cool robot form I have to leave the reality. I think I didn't cheat more with KITT than the ILM with for example Sentinel Prime :)
