Users in Minnesota, Minneapolis are gathering on February 5th.

John Fino writes:

The first meeting of the Minnesota Blender Users Group (MinnBUG) is a go for February 5th, 2012!
This will be an opportunity to get to know other Minnesota Blenderheads (and from WI, IA,SD, ND, if you feel like making the trip), discuss how we'd like the MinnBUG meetings to be formatted, and for sure, play around with Blender.

It will be held Sunday, February 5th at 1pm, Keller Hall, room 1-260, at the University of Minnesota, Minneapolis Campus. A computer lab has been reserved, and Blender has been installed on all the machines (thanks, SirDude).

For detailed directions and to RSVP, head over to the GroupSpace website that's been set up. If you're interested in coming, do join the group. It will be helpful to know how many people may be attending. You can ask questions there, or you can also check out the Blenderartists.org thread.

Hope to see you there!

I was planning to start a meetup group this weekend, until I saw this post.  Head over to meetup.com, and create a group.  There's a fee to create the group, but they're having a 1/2 off sale during January, so it'll be about $45 (iirc) for 3 months.

  1. @Winslow Mohr, Get a place to meet, set a time and send notices to everyone you can. Let Blender Nation know. They are good about helping with the publicity. Go to colleges and high schools with flyers and post them on bulletin boards, real and virtual. Contact local radio and TV stations who have public service announcements, contact the local arts organizations.  Have a great time.
