I have a LONG history with Blender - I wrote some of the earliest Blender tutorials, worked for Not a Number and helped run the crowdfunding campaign that open sourced Blender (the first one on the internet!). I founded BlenderNation in 2006 and have been editing it every single day since then ;-) I also run the Blender Artists forum and I'm Head of Community at Sketchfab.

The bottle and the cloth are awesome in my opinion. The rest of the scene is quite good also. But the glass looks weird.

  2. I presume just the table and items on the table are CGI? The items on the table do look amazing. The cup looks like a slightly tinted clear plastic or tinted glass perhaps. Really nice rendering!

In all honesty, after observing this photo for a minute or two, I found myself craving coke an cookies! :-)

  3. cloth looks very cool. the crumbs are not randomized enough. IMHO :-) the Picture looks quite good, but not coke and cookies are not my favorite food combo ;)

  4. Really nice image. I only think you should work on the material of the cookies and the cap of the coke bottle a little bit. Also I would suggest to render the image with different seeds and use the compositor to mix them to get rid of the fireflies in the lower right corner

      • I will love to, I have seen your page I am working with cycles for my coke bottle, but I am sure that this can help me out.
PSD: 3 days ago your modeling tutorial could be save me some hours of meditation on how to create this !

  5. My favorite part is actually in the background: the grittiness of the shoe molding (especially the damaged corner at the column) is very realistic.

The imperfections on the bottom of the sliding door frame are a magnificent touch!I think the problem that is subconsciously perceived in the coke bottle is because the droplets are hard to explain. The only way they would have those kinds of droplets is if the bottle was already room temperature, but had been run through water. Maybe it was in an icebox where the ice had melted :)If it was covered in condensation, I bet it would look absolutely perfect. Also, there has to be a carbonation ring at the top of the liquid, both in the bottle and in the glass. You could argue that the bottle and glass have been sitting there long enough that this isn't necessarily the case... in which case the whole thing is perfect :D

    • Thanks for all the nice comments and suggestions! I am ashamed to say that the background is just a picture! I guess that tells me that I did not do too badly matching the lighting in the background to that in the scene. The droplets, the condensation, the whole bubble issue has been driving me nuts. I think I have a solution now, but I have to test it. I think I'll have to fake my way out of it. :)

  6. It is a nice scene. I do love the kitchen towel. What could be better is the half cookie. The breakpoint of this one is too clean. Like a cut or something. It needs more crumbly IMO.

  7. This image is sooo perfect and beautiful. it just shows the power of cycles and blender. really great work here. very inspirational
