Demoreel: Ryan Davis

After effects, Blender, and Final Cut. All the 3D effects were done in Blender.

A lot of my reel is 2D after effects, but everything 3D was modeled, rendered, and animated in Blender (some 2.49 but mostly 2.5) using the internal rendering engine, and then composited in After Effects. I generally just do a beauty pass with alpha - as opposed to combining a diffuse, spec, AO, etc, passes each separately. And that's really only because of time (It seems like everything I work on was due yesterday, hahah)

All the 3D elements:

  • The plate shards/dust shards at the beginning were tracked with icarus, then modeled/rendered in blender, and composited in AE
  • "fashion week", "stream out loud" text
  • "Zombie Chasers" and "nine lives of chloe king" books (also the vampire diaries - but only in for like 12 frames just before the 9 lives book)
  • Low poly Camera
  • The Click Click: text, mouse, cameras, iPhone, "like" button
  • Alloy 10 text, ribbons, and springy ribbon tree
  • Country time lemonade pint glass, lemon, ice cubes (ice cubes turn 2d when it pours)

I wouldlike to switch to blender as a 3d tool basically for animation and also train the youth here in uganda. what path should i take to be a pro like you? kind regards.Alex.([email protected])

    Wow, I especially liked the idea to synchronize the tempo (not the editing) of the footage in the beginning to the beat of the sound!

    Awsome Demo reel!
    Does anyone know the font type at 0:20? I really like it, but I'd like to know the font type! Ryan, can you tell me please? :)
