  1. perfect; the artist is very talented; now i wonder if other applications can be useful to do the same in less time... but we know that the scuklpt thing will be upgraded :-)

  2. Very impressive, very detailed, it's a master piece from a talented artist, I would like to know how he proceed to achieve this level of quality. thanks for sharing

    • " I would like to know how he proceed to achieve this level of quality"
He works his ass off instead of playing games all day long.

  3. I am trying to figure out how GIMP was used in the process.  It looks like a very detailed sculpture with a plain material, and I don't have the experience to see where the texturing was added.

  4. Great models, great balance of artistical expression and "industrial" excelence. Really wish you more and more successful and pleasant to do projects.

P.S. Unexpected to hear Ukrainian in the music:) It's my native language;)
    Good luck!

  5. Wow – what a pleasant surprise, I visit blendernation from time to time but never expected to be actually mentioned :DThanks for all comments :)

  6. Does blender support bump/normal/disp map painting using an alpha image and sculpting? If so, these models will be life like!! My only gripe is they are a little less detailed than what I see at zbrushcentral.com. its 90% done, but just a bit more, and it can LEGENDARY! Nice stuff!

    • yes,indeed...Blender does support bump painting (the whole "bump code" being reviewed,in the 2.5 versions, resulting into sharper, higher quality rendered "bumps").By enabling GLSL shaders ,provided that your graphic card support them, you can, also, have a high quality real time preview,in the viewport,at the very same time you are painting the bump map onto the  object' s surface (in Texture Paint mode).
And ,of course ,Blender does support normal and displacement maps and a very convenient baking feature for generating normal maps from  high res poly meshes (let's say a sculpt, fro example) and then assigning those maps to the Normals channel of the low poly version of our mesh.
Bu the way, should you retopologize a high res mesh you imported from another app,Blender provides  a "Retopo" function,as well.

I see on your vimeo channel you have really great experience with lots of commercial industry standard apps in your last reel from 2010, how come 2011 switch to Open Source Blender and GIMP?

    • 2010 stuff was all noncommercial student work - when I started freelance Blender was the only option [the best software for this money :) ]. Also seeing some other people awesome works I asked myself: if they can why couldn't I? - I've chosen Blender and don't regret it. Of course I'm thinking about incorporating some other apps (3delight, zbrush) but for now I'll see how Blender development goes (it has almost everything I need so far).

  8. i almost didn't view the video, but i'm so glad i did! this is really great work! I'm inspired to keep working on my material. Thanks for sharing!!!
