Futuristic vehicle designs reel

38

Endi sent us a link to a youtube video in which he shows some sci-fi vehicles he made in his free time. The rendering is done inside the Game Engine with a simple sketch render module he adjusted to his needs.

  1. Very nice look! A bit like moebius. The cloudy effect in the background could be reduced a bit (at least for animation) me thinks.

  2. Wow, excellent style :)
I like the rendering, but a bit too noisy for my taste.

And pity the view angles and contexts are so boring (except for the wheel vehicle), they don't match the quality of the designs.

  3. very nice designs.. they're very original.

I love the shader as well.. it's so awesome to see them stylized like this.

    great work!

  4. Great job! It sort of looked like the Modular Vehicle was busy making more modules (if you know what I mean), but I really like the overall look and feel of this reel. Give the vehicles a bit more contrast so that they read more clearly against the backdrop and this look will be copied by an ad agency in 3, 2, 1...

  5. Good work Endi! I love the look of the clips. Gives them a combination of retro drawn on a sketchpad feel. I hope you might be gracious enough to share the glsl shader info with the community! To get this look in real-time interaction would be sweet - esp. if it could be served out on the web that way (keeping the sketchy look while allowing user-controlled viewpoint, manipulation, etc.) I know this is possible, but would love an integrated workflow in blender to allow artists to present their designs to the world this way, seamlessly.

    Cheers and keep it up!

  6. That looked great! I really dig your designs.
If you could explain this "rendered with the game enigine" thing some where, that would great.
Other than using some sort of screen recording software, I wasn't aware that you could do this.
    I like!

  7. Just wow! I think our blender community is in need of some Endi written tutorials for achieving this rendering in the BGE. I know I would love to take it, even pay for a series of courses in this aspect of the BGE. Lovely, really

  8. Great stuff! I really dig your designs.
It would be great if you could explain this "rendered from game engine" thing at some point.
Other than using some sort of screen recording program, I wasn't aware that you could do this.
    Anyway... good work!

  9. Agreed with Mzungu: sharing the glsl shader info with the community would be great. Fabulous video, I really love that rendering is quite unique. Please at least share some of how to accomplish that !

Cool models by the way, keep it up !

  10. One thing to say: You are truly an artist,
I have been following for some time now
I like you style and I am a big fan of your work.

I will more than happy to invest in any of your training materials.
    Keep up the perfect work.

  11. Could someone help me find a tutorial on HOW TO RENDER ANIMATION WITH BGE? That would help a lot thanks! I suppose you could just use a screen capture program like camstudio, but that doesn't sound like the best option.

  12. OMNISLASH, now this is not possible... :(
I have recorded this movie with Fraps...
And I have a script that saves the GE window in every frames, but is very slow.

  13. Thanks endi! I'll have to look up that script. I'm working on an instructional video about blood cells and I need to use some of the bullet physics available in the GE that aren't available in blender render.

  14. Nice render style and nice models !

I wonder what would happen to the Wheel vehicle if the driver pushes strongly the brake pedal ! I prefer not to be inside !o)

  15. Ya know...
nudge nudge wink wink... in case anyone is reading this...
It would be a pretty sweet feature if Blender had it's own internal viewport recorder for rendering game engine stuff.
    Just a thought.
    Probably not possible.

  16. morbott, not sure if you're being facetious or not (hard to get tone of voice from an online posting), but if you look at the last buttons on any "3D View" panel header, hover and notice the tooltip... (yay!)

[BTW: 2.49 just had one button]

  17. Sorry for coming across as facetious.
I haven't really played much with Blender's open GL render. It seems prety cool, but correct me if I'm wrong, it's a renderer, not a recorder, so you can't record(render/whatever) something that is interactive. Say you want to document something that needs to show interaction (therefore not pre-animated), you'll still need to use an external program.

All though... I haven't tried this yet, but someone responded to a post I made on this very topic on Blender Artist:
