New Blender Book in German

6

A new Blender book was published in Germany last May.

Franz Graser writes:

The German publishing company Franzis Verlag has just released a new book about Blender 2.5. Its author Heiner Stiller describes the software on a level which is suitable for beginners and newcomers. He explains the structures and the basic usage of the program, modeling, as well as the use of materials, lightning and  rendering in easy-to-follow tutorials that can be replicated even by absolute beginners. Therefore this book is the ideal startinhg point for all users who want to get into one of the most powerfull 3D Packages on the market. The book is based on the most recent 2.5x version of the software and explains the new user interface in full detail.

  1. Well, i don't mean it offensive, but there are sooo many beginner and newcomer books for blender and soooo few books which go deeper into the material. There a a few of course, but most of the time i read about another book for beginners and newcomers....
Another point in these books are the screenshots or pictures.
I fully understand that colored pictures are expensive, but most of them are so dark that you can't see anything.
It'll work for the modeling and animation part, but what's the point in black&white pictures for the material part or the compositing and colouring part?

  2. Given the fact that so much about Blender seems to have changed or is about to get changed since the 2.4 series it would make much more sense to have a book in the form of a virtual document collection which can be updated as the program itself gets updated. The author of such an introduction/documentary could bill the price of a book, and provide his/hers readers with a given numbers of updates on the book/documentation. Every time when Blender would get an update the author on a virtual book could quite easily update his/hers book as well.

This solution would give the readers of such a book a lot more value than the hard printed(but therefore not changeable)version of an introduction book.

  3. "who want to get into one of the most powerfull 3D Packages on the market" makes me happy really blender is so great haha.

Blender is moving so fast that it needs constant updates to training, books and techniques. That applies equally to newbie, hobbyist and professional.

The high amount of new entry books for Blender is a good thing. It encourages more people to use Blender, as each different style of books appeals to different people, which in turn widens the user base. A very large user base will secure the future of Blender.

Newbie books are very good for seasoned professionals as well as they explain new features very clearly. They are as useful for professionals as newbies.

Also the amount of Blender users is accelerating daily. Useage of Blender is starting to explode all over China, India, Thailand, Brazil, Argentina, Russia, Poland, Ukraine and other countries. Most of them are new users.

From what I can find out about various torrent sites, I don't think the downloads from the Blender website and builds websites reflect the actual number of Blender users. Various builds that originate on Graphical are turning up constantly as torrents, with an unknown amount of downloaders.
